This entry is for a later reissue, probably somewhere around november (based on 11/95 appearing in the inner ring of the cd) and has an all black cd face. "Suffocating the Bloom" is one of the most amazing prog masterpieces from the 90s, and most certainly the album that made Echolyn the top prog act from the USA to my eyes - well /5.

Feb 04,  · referencing Suffocating The Bloom, CD, Album, RE, So, if memory serves me (and it's 20 years ago so it might be!) these were "bootleg" copies the band made with normal grade paper as way of getting around Sony owning the masters/5(30).

Suffocating the Bloom was written by an independent group struggling to be heard but unwilling to bend under the laws of the market. Sure, their next effort, As the World -- recorded under a Sony contract -- would benefit from better production, but the raw edge and ferociousness of this album would remain unmatched.

The 2nd or 3rd Echolyn CD I heard. If you were one (like me) who got AS THE WORLD first, this really needed to be the next one. Between it and the self-titled debut, you got a very clear idea as to where Echolyn stood (musically speaking) at the time, and where they were probably going. A shame that they continue to be overlooked, to this day /5(12).

A few other songs are decent, such as "A Little Nonsense", "Here I Am", and "Suffocating the Bloom". But their songwriting skills didn't fully kick in until the next album, 's "As the World". While most of the songs here have some catchy moments, most also /5(11).
